About a week ago I sent a novella to the Blush line at Ellora's Cave. For those of you wondering about what sort of stuff I've been writing lately, Blush is EC's line of non-erotic romance.
I found this in my Inbox this morning: "Your manuscript has been read by our initial editorial reviewer and has been placed in queue for our acquiring editors to consider further."
I suppose it doesn't mean much more than "Your writing isn't complete drivel," but it sure was a nice way to start my day.

You're cute! Does that mean the reply "Your article is not what we're looking for at this time" can be roughly translated into "Your writing IS complete drivel"?
I've gotten that one "a time or two."
I'd be highly encouraged and watching for that acceptance letter, were I you. I'd like to read whatever it is you wrote. Keep us posted.
I'll take cute when I get it.
I've gotten the "Your writing IS complete drivel" letter a time or two myself. Lately, though, the letters are long, detailed explanations of what's working and what "doesn't quite fit our readership."
Onward!
